k, so today Pandora was out like ALL NIGHT watching me walk back and forth in my room. her eyes are still cloudier than ever and her belly's gettin even more pink. but, since she only stalks my every movement when she's hungry, i figured i'd throw a mouse in there since she hadnt eaten since saturday. when i did, she did her usual... constricted it and ate it.

she started gettin cloudy eyes Monday morning. i thought balls didnt eat when they were about to shed. am i just a lucky one who has a hungry snake?

Every bp and keeper is different when it comes to feeding in shed. Some keepers wont even attempt it for the potential stress factor, and some bp's just wont eat and want to be left alone. Its good to know that your bp isnt too afraid during her vulnerable time

Some will, some won't. Generally I find that mine won't eat when their eyes are clouded over but otherwise I don't sweat it and neither do they.

OK, quickie shed explanation. When a snake is about to shed, the old skin starts to separate and it builds up a thin layer of fluid between the old layer and the new. When the fluid layer between the old and new at the eyes is complete, the eyes are no longer cloudy. When the layer is complete throughout, it can shed. When you find a fresh shed, you'll notice it's damp. Your snake apparently was in the water dish while or just after shedding. This fluid layer is why humidity is so important for ball pythons. Some snakes don't need as much fluid as others to complete their sheds (kings vs. balls, for example) and so don't require as much humidity.

    Make sense?

    Shedding

My water dish also has this film on the surfacce also I don't know what it is but it does worry me. I always just make sure that I clean it very well. If you find out what it is let me know.

It's bacteria that builds up in the water. Usually they say to keep the waterbowl on the cool side of the tank, since warm water is a more hospitable home to airborne bacteria than cooler water is. It could also be algae, which will start to form seemingly overnight. I always change all my water bowls daily; I will admit it is a pain in the as$, but it's worth it.
Also, if you have well water, it could be mineral deposits. Oh how I hate those!
