73F is kind of cold. I would try to get it to a minimum of 78F. Of course if you have 2 of the same hides( 1 on cool side and 1 on hot side) it should be ok. Key is to make sure the hides are the same kind. Sometimes snakes like a certain hide and if that hide is on the cool side, the snake will sacrifice warmth for security thus creating a problem. Like Deborah said, use those little plastic flower pot saucers. I got em at Home Depot when my little girl was a baby and just used a pair of scissors to cut a half moon door and filed the edges smooth. She loved those things and used em until she was way too big for them. It looked like she was wearing them as hats when she was curled up under them. I then upgraded her to Reptile Basic hides which she loves too.
