    I'm doing Spider x Spider

Update on my lesser bee X killer bee clutch. Out of the 6 good eggs, we lost 2. One on day 35 and another on day 42 (today is day 44). We did have an equipment malfunction right before the first one started to go bad and that was also when the 2nd one sunk in though it lasted a bit longer. I do believe that malfunction is the reason they died, not because of the pairing. I did dissect the 2nd one to turn it into a learning experience and if you wish I can post them here

Oh, i am so looking forward to see what you get from this clutch. I have a spinner blast boy and really am looking for a female for him, but except for the firefly morph everything i really love has the spider gene in it. I am more worried about producing babies with a wobble then anything else. I just love what the spider produces and i wouldn't even mind a spinner blast to a spinner blast. So take a lot of pics of those babies.

I'll make sure to update! And any Spider combo has wobble in it, so no point fretting about producing wobbly snakes. There's no avoiding it if there's Spider in them.

i love that the person who credits her self with getting me into bp's refuses to do spider morphs yet she dreams of an 8 ball. she also refuses to believe that even though there might be some issues with a morph that it can be successful. some times majorly awesome. personally i wouldn't breed spider to spider just because i only have one of them for the time being. even if there is never a super form mixing spiders just means trying to get mom and dad's patterns quality's to combine into even more awesomeness.

The way to make a morph really successful is to make a virtue of its problems, as with waltzing mice. With morphs like spider, the keeper/breeder must like the good points enough to accept the bad points in the package.

IMO, there are so many possible ways for an embryo to die that dead homozygous spider embryos could get lost in the shuffle. Two dead embryos out of six eggs is undesirable, but it doesn't seem much out of line from expectation. Collecting data on eggs from 20-50 clutches from spider x spider matings and comparing that to the same number of eggs from normal x normal matings might show a difference.

Re: I'm doing Spider x Spider

Sorry! Didn't see these last posts. No updates here :/ Both of my spider combo girls haven't ovulated. The Calibee is getting close to ovulation though, she's eating like a monster and has big follicles (I feel 5). Although she was bred to my Super Enchi Lesser Spider, my Mojave Leopard Super Pastel male finally started to breed, so he's been paired with her as well. The Bumblebee that was paired with the Super Enchi Lesser Spider male also has been bred to my Lesser Pastel Leopard boy that also just began breeding. These were my original plans and the Super Enchi Lesser Spider was my backup male, so even though I may not get Spider x Spider hatchlings now, I am 100% more happy with the latest pairings.
