Rack systems
How much does it cost to set up a rack system where I can have like 7 Ball Pythons? I wanna label all their bins and make it a snake council. I already got my first snake and Ball Python Osiris the other day. Eventually he's gonna be emperor so I decided I'll need more Ball Pythons. I'll have Emperor Osiris and Supreme Commander Ra as the two highest in command. Then I'll figure out the rest of the hierarchy. Osiris is a Normal Ball and I want Ra to be one of the Yellow Bellies.

Re: Rack systems
Check out places like animal plastics or cserpents. They sell racks. Or you could build your own. If you are going to run heat tape, remember to get a thermostat to regulate the heat.

Depends on your budget and if you want to go pre-made, made to order, or make your own. I personally made my own because I like to go for the cheapest and also the "I totally made this" feeling. I made some mistakes and its not perfect but for under 200$ I was able to make one for 8 tubs (41qt sterilite).
Fall 2015 :
"I'll only get one" I said, cuddling a bp hatchling "See how it goes"
Two months later :
2 adults, 2 juveniles and 1 bci.
"Oops"

How much time do you have to spend maintaining a rack system like yours?

I have yet to fill it up! I only have 2 for now, one not being mine and I had another one that sadly died after 2-3 weeks, so I cannot really say.
Though taking care of the individual snakes each in their tubs in different rooms (quarantine) does not take more then 15 minutes if I don't play with the snakes. In a rack I suppose it would be a little more since I'd have more but being all in the same place it is just to slide the tub out, change substrate (paper towel or newspaper) and change water. Though I do take a few minutes morning and evening to make sure all temps and humidity are ok but again in different rooms so longer then if they were all in the same room.

Re: Rack systems
I built my own 8 tub rack. I made mine out of xpvc and the place I got it from
cut it to size for me. I also built a 28 qt five level rack out of melamine. I like the xpvc better but it did cost me. I figure all said and done I am into it for about 480 with tubs and everything. It has solid sides so those are what made it cost so much, but it holds heat better that way. Currently have six snakes in it and cleaned them all out and handled the snakes a bit and was done in less than an hour. Could just clean everything quickly in like 20 minutes but I like to look everything over at least once a week.
