Welcome to the forums.

First off, could you photo of the lump and his defecation?

Second, feeding in a separate feeding tub is very unnecessary, stressful, and you are risking a bite. The do not get aggressive if fed in his enclosure.

Third, you need a heat pad. A lamp is not necessary as ball pythons do not bask. They need belly heat to help in aiding digestion. Along with a heat pad you will need a thermostat. At the pet store, they will be able to sell you both.

A single hollow long is not a proper hide for ball pythons. He needs two hides that are enclosed. The hollow logs are too open.

How often are you feeding him? Is he still on fuzzies? Could you use a kitchen/food scale and find out how much he weighs in grams? What kind of "wood" are you using? Aspen, pine, cypress, reptibark, etc? Do you have a thermometer and a hydrometer? If you do, what kind and what are they reading? Ball pythons need a cool area of 80F, and a warm area of 90F with the hot spot set at 95F.

Just curious, did you research before getting a ball python? It is very important that you do some research before purchasing any type of animal.
