    Question Savannah monitor questions

I plan on getting my first monitor (a Sav monitor) in the next several months so I've been doing oodles of research for a while now But still wanted to ask all you a couple little things. Are they allowed in California? And what tips would you give a first time Savannah monitor owner? I'm going to be purchasing a Captive bred hatchling. Thanks in advance friends

Start planning your adult enclosure now. It'll have to be at least 8x4x4 with a substrate depth of 2 feet. There are a lot of great how-to build guides out there. You can start the monitor off in this enclosure, they don't need a grow-out enclosure, but if you prefer you can start them in a large tank for the first few months. They'll need the full-sized one by the time they're about 6 months old, though.

Savannahmonitor.net is a good place to start for reading up on correct husbandry.
