Outstanding Feeding responce

:boo: Ok so my Ball ate for the first time since being home a week ago. He had 3 very fresh ,like 2 seconds before, prekilled hoppers, the first one I dangled in front of him while he was basking and he acted like he wasn't paying it any attention then out of no where WHAM he hit it and even pulled it out of the tongs. After working that one down he crawled in to his hot hide and I just put the other two in the enterance of the hide and later I caught him working on the second one and then the third. After that he calmed down for like an hour in his hide and about an hour and a half later he was streached out on top of the big flat cave that is is hot hide just. Chillin' I am so glad that my first feeding at home went as well as it did.

my girl is an extremely easy feeder. i warm up the mouse, hold it in front of her with tongs and 2 seconds later she strikes and constricts. the only time she didn't strike right away was once when i didn't have the mouse quite warm enough. just needed another minute next to the heat lamp.

I just read that BP can be hard feeders and it shocked me he even ate the ones that I just laid in front of his hide.. Thanks to you guys I think I will have one very happy herp. I feel that a person should be as informed as they can about a pet before they get one. So if anything comes up you already know kind of what is going on.. Like people getting scare when they go off feed in the fall and all through winter. Thanks to the sight and the people in I can learn about mistakes with out makeing them myself..

My ball went on a stress feed strike for about a month after I got her, it scared the wits out of me. Different to hear about it or read about it in a textbook and then have it happen to you, you know? Thankfully she's okay, but there were a few days when I recall making pretty drastic negotiations with The Guy Upstairs if he'd just let my snake eat ("Dear God, I promise I'll be really really good and stop swearing and smoking and not get any more tattoos if you'll just make my python eat this mouse. Thank you.").

Yea very true. Its hard to think that they can go months with out eating. Just not something this gecko and dog owner is use. Any way so it seems that if the enviroment is at proper temp and the RH is right then feeding is not as big a problem usless they are just not hungery or are moody that week.

Yeah, and Balls, although hardy, can be easily stressed out. You learn new stuff about your animals every day, no shame in that. I just learned that my VB should only be eating every 3-4 weeks. WOW! No wonder she had no interest in every mouse I danced around in front of her face! That's the beauty of the herp field, something new to learn all the time.

Tell Bo Peep that. Try it and he may strike at you, but he will *not* eat unless left alone with it.

How did i miss this one. I've got some very picky eaters. Andy will not eat unless i cover his tank with a dark towel so nothing can see in. Sway has only eaten once in the month i've had her, and Sphinx hasnt eaten at all. I'm not too worried tho, Andy went on a four month hunger strike when i got him.
