    Not eating?

Ever since it's gotten cold, Moses hasn't been eating or wanting to be held/explore his enclosure (he's just been hiding). This has only been going on for 2 weeks, but I'm still concerned. The first time I tried to feed him, he struck at the rat, missed, and then acted all terrified and hid again. Next week when I tried to feed him, he completely ignored it. He seemed more interested in me than anything else. I removed his hide so he could... see the rat better. Then he just started to explore his cage and climb on everything. When I put his hide back, he immediately went in there to hide again. Any idea what could be going on?

    Additional info:
-He's very picky, and will only eat African Soft Fur rats.
-The 2nd time I fed him I had to offer a normal rat, because the reptile store was closed. That may have been why he was uninterested in it.
    -He does eat frozen/thawed.
-He's only been hiding in his cold hide.
    -Hot side/basking is 90-93 F.
-He's not due for a shed; his last one was a month ago and he usually sheds every... 3 months I'd say?
-His setup, temps, etc. haven't changed at all.

He's a royal python they do this sometimes. I know it can be difficult but two weeks is no reason to worry. Just keep an eye that he's not loosing visable weight and keep offering every week or so. I've never heard of a healthy python starving itself to death

Feed what works, remember that BP go of feed for various reasons such as, seasonal, breeding related, husbandry, catching up etc

Make sure your husbandry is optimal, don't hesitate to downsize the enclosure if necessary and be patient.

    Re: Not eating?

My adult male goes off feed in the winter, (last year I think it was about 5-6 months). You'll be fine just monitor his weight, keep your husbandry on point, and if he does start losing a substantial amount of weight take him to the vet.

As long as he's drinking and producing heated you should be alright. Keep offering food no more than once a week. For me, when mine refuses for a few weeks in a row, I give him a couple of weeks where I don't offer unless he acts hungry (he shows the same behaviors every time he is hungry so I know when he will refuse or not).
