Well I Got Another One
Last week I picked up a BCC. The guy told me that it was 10 foot Suriname. After driving more than a hundred miles I cloud see that he was wrong on both counts. I told him that it was a 7 footer and didn't look like any Suriname that I've seen before. But he stuck to his guns. He said he measured him once at 9 feet and that he has grown.
His dog ruined the snake cage, so he just let the snake run loose in the house. The snake would chill in the rafters to escape the dog.
Anyway, here is Punch with my daughter, just her second time to hold a snake.

Oh, I did measure him, he is right at 7 feet.
If anyone thinks that he IS a Suriname please let me know.

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
1.2 Coastal Carpet Pythons
Mack The Knife, 2013
Lizzy, 2010
Etta, 2013
1.1 Jungle Carpet Pythons
Esmarelda , 2014
Sundance, 2012
2.0 Common BI Boas, Punch, 2005; Butch, age?
0.1 Normal Ball Python, Elvira, 2001
0.1 Olive (Aussie) Python, Olivia, 2017
Please excuse the spelling in my posts. Auto-Correct is my worst enema.

Sorry you didn't get what you originally wanted.
I just HATE cheaters!
IMHO, call it a rescue. Punch has a way better home now.
(No expert here, but I've never seen a Suri that looked like that either. Doesn't matter now. I like the pic.)

I don't think the guy meant to be disingenuous. He was a fairly recent war vet that had lot of war injuries over the years and a lot of surgeries as well. If that's not enough, he is in Stage Four of cancer, never smoked. So I just let it pass though frustrating.
And Punch is a sweetheart!

Re: Well I Got Another One
In any case, Punch looks very healthy and that's what really matters. I don't know how to identify the Surinam gene. Congrats Reinz,, you are one step above. Lol.
Stay in peace and not pieces.

Definitely doesn't have any phenotypical hallmarks of a Suriname... So my guess it's a regular Columbian BCI. Could be a hybrid with some Suriname in it but who knows, in any case he is a great looking snake!

Congrats on the new one you just added. I'm not seeing BCC there and a few folks are asking how to identify Suriname BCCs.
Locality BCCs have some subtle differences and some not so subtle differences in their appearance.
These are some of the finest examples of Suriname boas I have ever seen.

There is probably no other boa constrictor that exhibits the amount of lateral compression that the Suri locality does.
If you explore the other albums on the page you will also see the various localities Gus has produced over the years.
My Barranquilla, Colombian BC is even pictured in there.
I really love your carpet, Mack, that is my kind of carpet!
All your stuff looks good. Have fun!
