there is a lady in my area who is down sizing and is offerin a group only deal for a male Karma. female mystic, and female black pastel, their tubs and heat tape for $650. All adults in good health. Im still new, so is this good?

Its not a bad deal... IMO. Basically if you were to buy these animals individually, you would pay the same price maybe more... I think. Really depends on where you are living currently. I do not know how much a Karma is worth but mystics around here go for $350 and a black pastel is around $120.

A Karma is a BEL (Phantom x Lesser). I'd put a mature male at $400-500 easily, there were ads for more than that for hatchlings last year.

If the trio is healthy I'd jump on that deal. Get a thermostat, quarantine them together, you could even pair the male and females this season if you want.

Thanks guys, i'm going to meet up with them this evening and they threw in a low end thermostat until my herpstat 2 arrives. I've never used tub setups so this is going to be new for me but i'm also very excited. The pictures she sent me all look really good. She said that the mystic can be a little shy and her whole clutch was difficult to feed as hatchlings but as long as shes fed in a confined space she eats fine now. Im really excited about the Karma male (lesser phantom). He is gorgeous!

also I really need some help with setting up the flexwatt to the tubs. She is bringing them in closed tubs, and from the sound of it she wants me to put the flexwatt directly to the bottom of the tub with the thermostat on it. wont that melt the tub or something? For now im having the tubs sat on top of some 2x4's in my spare bedroom until i can build a proper rack for them this weekend. Im just curious as to how to set the tape up. My normal ball is in an aquarium and i use a heat mat under his.

so there will be 3 tubs on 1 long strip of heat tape or 3 separated but connected pieces of heat tape? the tubs should not melt as long as it's on a functional thermostat set to the proper temps. heat tape contact with tubs is common and pretty much standard practice.

also congrats if u can score this deal! it sounds fantastic.

Lol thank you Ax, and yes I did get the deal and they are gorgeous! All 3 tubs are one one 3" strip but it seems like only about 1.5" of it are actuall heating all the way down. Going to be keeping a very close eye on them with my therm gun until I'm positive the thermostat is going to do its job.
