Oh my gawd, the horror
So, I've been pairing my het albino female to my double het albino pied male on a rotation for the last few weeks. The day to pair was Wednesday and my female was in shed. I decided to put him anyway since she was on the tail end of her phase. She's been pretty interested, even in shed, but it's his first year breeding and he's more concerned with hogging the heat tape. Talk about rejection.
Anyhoo, I went to check on them and opened the tub to find that she had shed.
Now, we all know what happens when they shed - poo.
It happened. She pooped and not just a small poo. It was a massive, months long, built up, explosion of fecal matter all over her prince charming. A turd massacre. I mean he was covered in it, cradling it even. Poor guy. I wasn't any happier than he was. Clean up was atrocious to say the least!
Hopefully he's learned his lesson about ignoring a woman and will get down to business!

Ball pythons will often empty out just before breeding. I usually leave them be for the prescribed time despite the mess. Otherwise there would be no breeding=no eggs for me. Sometimes the mess is big, especially with my big girls but they seem to like it. Puts them in the Mood.

Re: Oh my gawd, the horror
I have a girl that just finish shedding and I want to pair her. However, because of your cautionary tale I am waiting for her to evacuate before my little man gets to court her.

Thanks for mentioning that. I'm aware of the behavior. This was just a particularly messey evac. He was quite covered in it and was his day to be removed anyway! Lol

Put him on in. Might help the situation out. ;-)
