Slightly concerned snake mom

So, I think I know the answer to this, but as time goes on I'm getting concerned. I got my ball python on October 24, he was 172 g, today (after defecating and before feeding) he weighed in at 286g, he eats weekly, urinates every 3-5 days, defecates every other week, temps and humidity are perfect, but he has not shed. I keep thinking his belly is getting pink, but no blue eyes, not overly dull, not using moist hide or anything. I know that there is not a definite timeline to this process but, is there any reason to worry that he's growing but not shedding? Could there be an underlying health / husbandry issue that I'm not aware of?

They all shed at different rates. My young female went over four months with no shed and she's fine.

Your baby will shed when he's ready just be patient. I think my baby sheds about once every three months and the adult about once every four maybe... They're all different.

As long as he's growing, don't worry. He'll shed when he needs to.

Update: I posted this yesterday thread and found out that Mashadar must have an internet connection in his hide and he must follow this forum too, because I went to change his water today and HE'S IN BLUE ! ! !

I'm so excited, and nervous to see how it turns out

MAKE SURE YOUR HUMIDITY IS ABOVE 60%!!!


I just had to go through a VERY stressful time with my snake, helping him get his stuck shed off. Luckily, I got everything off (Including eye caps) except for a little part under his head, but don't risk it.

It was not fun, and my snake probably trusts me less now, but I didn't hurt him or do anything bad, I just helped him out.

PS: If you don't know how to get your humidity up (Assuming it isn't up right now), you should:

• Put sphagnum moss in his hot side hide
• Put damp (not wet) paper towels in both of his hides
• Mist his cage
• Cover the screen top (If you are using a glass tank)

Humidity is currently 70% on cool side and 68% on the warms side. I just added a damp hide when I saw his eyes, and the screen has been covered since I got it. I have been both dreading and anxiously waiting for this day since I got him. I just finished my the semester at school so I'll be home for the next three days to be sure everything stays ok, Heck, I'll probably sleep in the living room tonight to make absolutely sure that everything goes as well as possible - he has a "moonlight blue" lamp at night so I can see him without using a flash light or getting super close to the cage

He'll probably go into hiding for the next 7-10 days. His eyes will clear up at some point and he'll shed a day or three after that. As long as your temps and humidity are on point, and it sounds like yours are, then you can just let him do his thing. He'll look really nice and be quite hungry when he's done. Enjoy the show.

Just one more quick question: Do you keep the humidity at 70% until the shed is complete? I read the shedding sticky, but it didn't mention how long to keep the humidity raised, just that the whole process could take up to 12 days.

Right now, the cool side of his cage is at 75% and the hot side is 58%. During the day he stays on the cool side, but at night he usually stays on the hot side. If I increase the hot side to the 65-70 range, then the cool side goes up to 80+, he does have a moist hide on the warm side that I just added today, but he has yet to use it. I'm not sure why the levels are so unbalanced right now, I just want to know if this sounds ok. I also don't want the levels so high that he develops a RI (if that is even possible) or so low that he doesn't shed well.

Any advice would be appreciated
