We're having a similar thing with my daughters hatchling mojave. Had her about three weeks now. She was in her hides all the time and if you looked in on her and she had her head out she would act scared and pull her head back in. She refused first offering of f/t but has just slammed her last two. The last 3 or 4 days though she is out almost all the time. Not really roaming her tank but perched on top of her cool hide or laying on or on top of her stump warm hide. She was perched on top of her stump Saturday when I fed her and she literally lunged off the stump to strike the hopper and coiled it before landing on tank floor. We have her in a 10 gallon, 3 sides covered with jungle background, foil tape over screened top, red light with rheostat for ambient temps and a UTH on thermostat under stump hide. Temps all good checked with temp gun. She handles great, has only hissed once but never struck. You pick her up she doesn't ball and acts like she isn't scared what so ever.
