Ball Python tank question
I just recently got a Ball python (yesterday to be exact) they told me they recommend a 20 gallon tank I could only afford a 10 but he is still just a baby only 3 pounds 20 inches long and I have a 20 gallon tank back at my parents house sitting out side and used to have a turtle in it if I were to clean the tank would it be ok for my snake sense it had a turtle in it and if so what should I clean it with the pamphlet that came with my snake recommends to clean the cage with a 3% bleach water mix then rinse clean with water the booklet with the tank I bought says only water.

I used an old fish tank for mine, and cleaned it out with a vinegar/water solution. It will be fine, as long as you clean it~

The only issue with fish tanks is getting a lid / cover that will be secure enough to keep the snake in.

For this, where you purchase the screen lid they usually sell screen latches. Make sure you get at least four to secure all corners. Trust me!! lol
Also you will want to look at how some people on this site modded the screen lid to help with heat and moisture retention. Along with substrate ideas. I personally use coconut fiber for substrate as it packs well and holds onto water. This is for my first ball that I have displayed. All others are in sterilite tubs.

Are you sure he's 3lbs? That's a 1360 gram BP. That's actually a decent size.
Definitely invest in a scale. In regards to washing the tank, hot water and Dawn works just fine. Then just rinse it out.
