Don't do the damp towel over the tank lid. I don't know why people like wet towels all over their stuff. I live in the mojave desert so I feel your pain. Instead of the damp towel put aluminum foil over 2/3 of your lid. Make sure thus is over the warm side and your water bowl is under the foil. Or add a second water bowl to the warm side under the foil. It will bump your humidity way more than a ridiculous towel you have to keep dampening while it sits around as a breeding ground for germs.
