    Plexiglass works great to partially cover your screen top. It doesn't look bad either, so you can leave it all the time. Don't seal it in place so it can be shifted or removed to fine tune things. The people at Lowes, Home Depot, or wherever you buy it will usually cut it to size too if you're unfamiliar with the process.

    Don't put your CHE on top of the plexiglass. I've got about 2/3 of the top screen covered with the plexiglass, and my CHE is the light fixture sitting on the screen. They'll be fine so long as they aren't touching. You want a little open screen for circulation.
