Don't know about others, but I use long tweezers or forceps for feeding to prevent an accidental bite. Also, infrared thermometer to spot check/confirm temperatures, and a digital thermometer with probes to monitor temperatures.

Are you planning on putting a hatchling in a full size T8?

Thanks. I'll add those to the list.

I've only been a bp owner for less than a month, and I am looking to get a T8 cage as well. I think the snap-in divider they sell for the T8 is a good idea, especially for younger snakes. That is less room you have to clutter and heat until the snake gets bigger. Just my opinion. Also, on these items:

Hide boxes 20 You can find them cheap if you look online or at expos. I got two very nice ones for about $14. You can even make your own out of some old butter bowls.
Decorations 20 - Go get some foliage at the dollar store for 3-4 bucks and you're all set. They don't need much.
Substrate 20 I decided to use paper towels to start. I can get rolls for $1/each at Walmart.
Mice 25 I've found the first weeks/months the snake grows a good bit, so stocking up on one size feeder may not be the best idea to start. Figure about a $1.25 a week for the first month or so.

As said above, I got a nice set of 16" hemostats off of ebay for feeding for $11.

Im going to check out a local reptile show and see what's available. Probably a younger snake though, yes. I read that they'll be alright if you put in some extra fake foliage so the don't feel exposed. Hopefully that's the case

Lots of opinions out there as to this. I personally am a minimalist when it comes to caging. I keep full grown adult female boas in T8s. But, as others will likely chime in, with enough decorations and hides im sure you can make it work.

I'm just curious - Is there any particular reason you're going with mice instead of rats?

Thinking mice while BP is still a juvenile. But, I'll ask the breeder what it's eating and continue that at first.

Okay, as I said I was just curious. I've got all of mine on rats, even the little 100g babies.
