    Baby carpet python price?

I'm planning on picking up a baby carpet at the next Pomona reptile show here in So. Cal. About how much do you think I'll be shelling out for a normal morph Jungle or Irian Jaya? I can't seem to remember the prices last time I was there/Thanks.

Every time I look around they're usually in the $100-$200 range. Side note, that's one of the things I want to look for at the same expo!

I'd say it depends on the breeder and the quality of the animal. You can get a pretty nice jungle for $200-$300. IJ's may be a tad less expensive. Either way carpets are great snakes to keep and well worth the cost.

If you go to Nick Mutton's web page INLAND REPTILE you can see the prices he lists. Nick is known for pure locality stock and some nice morph stuff too.

There are some very reasonable prices and then there are some prices that are quite spectacular.

As Ziggy stated, it depends on a few factors.

My advice is get what YOU want and don't just look at the expo as the last resort. If you are not happy with what you see, resist the urge to buy and look at some breeders on line.

However, if you see what you like at the show, ask the appropriate questions and check the health of the snake and go for it.

I agree with Gio. Nick Mutton produces some amazing animals and I would highly recommend buying from him. I got both of my carpets from Nick and I think buying from a reputable breeder is definitely the best route to go when buying a carpet. If you do decide to buy at the expo definitely ask to see pictures of the animals parents. Carpets, especially jungles, aren't the cutest things as hatchlings and sometimes they don't show their true colors until they're 12-18 months old. If you can see what the parents look like it'll give you some idea of what the offspring should look like, even though it's not always the case. Best wishes with whatever you choose.

Thanks again. Thing is I don't really care about getting the best colors or anything. Heck I like the dull looking snakes. I'm just looking to not spend too much and get a quality pet, that's about it.

Nick has some jungles for about $250-$350

And some coastals as low as $160.

Pretty nice prices for good quality stuff. And you will know the background of the animal you buy.

You can't go wrong with carpet pythons. There is never a dull moment with them. I have two and they are so different when compared to boa or ball pythons.
