Small rats to medium rats?
So my male BP took a good poop the other day and I weighed him and he was 810grms. Been on 1 small rat a week for awhile and I still have maybe 20 in the freezer but was wondering when I could bump him to mediums. Is there a certain weight they would hit that it's time to switch?

i don't go by weight, but i go by girth of my snakes. does a medium rat equal (more or less) the girth of your BP? I think a happy belly shows a nice lump in your BP.
on the other hand, from an economical/efficiency standpoint if I had 20 small rats i would probably try to feed it all off before moving up in size. And i would pay attention if your BP is patrolling/hunting in between feeds with the small rats.
RIP Mamba

At 800g, no mediums would be too big... at least in my experience. Usually ball pythons wont take mediums until 1500g or so.

I start offering mediums at about 1000 grams, some take them some not. Smalls are perfectly fine at this weight and I'd finish up the smalls. Maybe try a medium before your next order and see how it goes, but I'd put a little more size on him first.

Thanks everybody, that's kinda what I figured but thought I'd check just to be sure.

Re: Small rats to medium rats?
I started feeding my females medium rats at a 1000g. I still feed my male small rat a week even though he's over a 1000.
