Chin Rub advice
My baby rubs her chin raw whenever she is in her tub. We placed her in a glass tank and it went away in ONE shed, but as soon as I put her back in her tub she did it again! Is there a way to prevent this? Or is she doomed to be in glass cages?

here's what another forumer/breeder said about these sores from another thread:

He said that the other collection was also kept in tubs in a rack, and that the problem ended up being that there was enough of a gap between the tub and the rack that as the Ball Python tries to explore and escape, it rubs a sore (or two) on the lower lip. When I checked my collection, sure enough, all of the snakes with the sores ended up being active snakes in tubs with a small gap between the top of the tub and the rack. I have shimmed under the front of those tubs and all the sores have healed up.
the gap between the top of the tub and rack may be causing it as the snake try to explore and constantly rubs it while trying to get out. the thread is here - http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...est-part/page2 (it's a pix thread tho)

Chin Rub advice
If your snake is Not in a rack but in a free standing tub:
and
Using the information in from the other thread would tell me to try this-
make sure the lid of the tub is tight, i.e., no wiggle at all even if locked with clasps. If any movement, place heavy books or similar weighing items on top of the tub, just like many of us do with our tank lids. Hopefully this will close that gap.
Strangely enough, you may have to unlock the clasps if you need the books because the clasps may offer resistance to the weight.

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

i don't have experience with this issue, but the other forumer/breeder solved it by closing the gap between the tub and rack for his particular snake. so i guess a lid would help as it closes the opening space. i think trying it out with a lid wouldn't hurt. Also again remember to keep in mind this solution is for active snakes trying to squeeze between that gap, not all.
