    Wood verification, please.

    Hello,

As some of you may read, I want to fill the space vertical off the surface in my pythons vivarium. It was recommended that I find some wood and put it in a bucket of bleach and water for 48 hours, and then another 24-48 hours in standard water to rinse it all off to ensure that there was no hint of bleach at all. I replied that I was very far away from any kind of forest, and it would be hard for me to find natural branches. However, I idiotically forgot about the cherry tree that we have in our backyard. With it being completely bare and almost winter time, there is no more rising sap, which makes it the perfect time for us to prune it (which is exactly what we plan on doing), so; is it safe to use any pruned branches from this tree?

Also, is that the best way to sterilize wood, or is freezing/baking it better? Or is there no difference at all?

Aka - is the wood from a cherry tree harmful to a ball python?

Oh, we also have a Buddleja or Buddleia, maybe some of you know it as a butterfly bush. Does anyone know about the wood from these plants being dangerous too?

If not, I can always just source it from a reptile store, or buy artificial wood!

    Thanks to anyone who replies!
