Can you get driftwood, or just weathered wood?
Scrub well, and maybe heat to sterilize so there are no mite eggs.

I like the way bonsai creators make the "jins" the dead wood of trees. Some artfull scraping, carving and torching of an ordinary dead branch could be visually effective.

I have seen smaller pieces of that wood before on one of those sites. The photo looks like several large pieces to me. Not a cheap wood.
First two didn't have anything nice but I liked the ghostwood New England Herpetoculture store has, sadly they can't ship wood decor internationally.

One finnish website sells iron driftwood and desert driftwood. The desert ones look quite nice.
I should just go have a walk in the woods and search around if I could find a nice branch or two. How would you heat it and where? In the oven? I would be scared that it bursts into flames. D:

    Yeah those are really cool!

For you have your own driftwood boiling water in a large pot then pouring over the wood is what I've done in the past. Never had mite or bug problems after.
