Well i bought a rat today for Jeeper's feeding time....was twice the size of the mice he eats...i was sooo nervous he wouldn't get it down...but it looked easy for him! yeah shame shame on me...i didn't kill the rat first. i let Jeeper do the honors. he didn't even hesitate to take and coil up around him. took the little guy a long time to die! i looked EVERYWHERE for dry ice, and noone here in Ar has it...i tried Wal-mart, Kroger, Harvest Foods, noone has it right now.
my reply to this will have pictures of him feeding. it will be later tonight cuz i gotta go to work right now. i just was excited and wanted to share the news!!
umm....3 bucks a rat...any suggestions on breeding rats? will rats stink up my room?

3 bucks is pretty standard for live rats. And congrats on the switch.
Be careful with the live feedings though. A half-subdued rat bit my bp during constriction about a month or so ago. I successfully intervened before any damage was done, but the rat bit me instead. Drew blood too. Rats pack way more a punch (or bite) than mice do, and all it takes is for the snake to not grab it right, which can happen very easily.
F/t rats are usually about 2 bucks a piece. Just extra motivation to switch once her get her used to rats. I would keep doing what you are doing now for a little while before changing anything again, then switch when you think your bp is comfortable with rats.

hey all, someone had a pic of a paintball gun reservoir that stored CO2. they pumped it into a rubbermaid full of rats. mice and rats stink alot!!! i buy mine frozen online. less than a dollar a piece, you have to pay for shipping but if you buy a 3-4 month supply it is worth it!
hey elevate i'm also in richmond

you should try ice cream places for dry ice. all the baskin robins and dairy queens in my area always have a nice stock of it for real cheap. i pay 1.50 a lb i think. i like to get 2 lbs, cause it can make smoke for hours...enough to kill an army of rats. once my breeders start popping babies i will be gassing quantities. i never messed with the paint pall canister method. i play paintball alot, and have seen some people get seriously hurt from one of those canisters flying off from the pressure. not something i feel safe messing with... besides i love the fog dry ice makes, i do it on my porch at night, and it looks so cool when the green light reflects off the thick fog.
