When I was looking for apartments I let them run my credit, showed up to the meeting dressed nicely, I also told them about my military experience. Told them about my snakes and they said no way.
In a few days they called me back saying that I could rent there and because of my good credit and the interview that they felt I could be trustworthy enough to keep snakes in the apartment. Its all about in how you present yourself.
Instead of "Do you allow snakes?"
Say "I keep small, non-venomous reptiles is that a problem"
Response is either gonna be yes, or no, or what kind.
If they say absolutely no, say OK, I understand and leave.
To the what kind, show them a photo. Explain to them that there is no water that could damage a floor. They stay in locked cages etc.
Say you used to watch Crocodile Hunter as a kid and are just really fascinated by nature. Even people who dislike snakes generally have a positive attitude towards Steve Irwin. Then make a joke about how you only have little snakes and not big alligators.
Hopefully by the time your done explaining the what (small snakes), why (Crocodile Hunter), and the how (locked cages that can't damage property). The person will feel that you are a responsible naturalist as opposed to some freak who just keeps snakes cause he likes to see small animals die.
Then drop this one on them,
Just from a money standpoint if I was a landlord I would prefer that everyone kept snakes and lizards. A dog or a cat or fish can cause thousands of dollars in damages to a unit either by accident or negligence. Which, knowing people who are negligent aren't likely to pay that money back.
Now you've shown them that you are actually a better potential tenant than that dog or cat person you are competing with. (Don't say this if you also have dogs and cats and want them to come too lol.)

You sir have me confused with someone that cares what you think. You have already proven your stand on this hobby in past posts.
You may now go find someone else to antagonize.
Well I guess I wrongly assumed that having the title of 'moderator' on a discussion forum, might mean that it was your job to moderate discussion, not stifle it with insults. Do you honestly believe that you are the moral authority on all issues reptile? Or maybe you see yourself as the moderator of 'hard knocks' on this site. Either way it is embarrassing for you. The fact that you would ridicule someone in person over reptile issues is just further testament to your immaturity and inadequacies in fulfilling your title on this site. The unbelievable number of messages I have received lately regarding your disrespect for users on this site is proof enough. Your degrading and mildly illiterate posts are not wanted, nor needed.

Just because someone is right doesn't mean they were right in the correct way.

THIS IS ME AS A MODERATOR NOT A MEMBER
First this is a PUBLIC forum therefore just like YOURSELF anyone can post their opinion and YOU cannot dictate WHO can and cannot post in a thread.
When becoming a moderator the people who are chosen by the admins do not have to change their ways, nor are they asked to stop posting their opinion, Moderators are first and foremost MEMBERS.
Now I will remind you that YOU are walking a very fine line, you could simply have posted on topic instead YOU have chosen to yet again attack a moderator with the same old “how unbecoming of you to have your own opinion”
So here are a few reminders since there is a clear history on your end
3. No Hate Speak. This includes, but is not limited to speech intended to cause or further a "flame war" or personal vendetta.
17. No posts or private messages may be made or sent with the express intent to antagonize or discredit the staff. Violation may result in heavy infractions or a permanent ban.
Should there be any further attempt on your part to disrupt THIS thread, this thread will be locked
If you have an issue with the staff feel free use the PROPER channels and contact one of our admins (names in RED), threads are not the place to do so.
Finally keep in mind that there are other forums out there.
Now back on TOPIC.

I have used the proper channels concerning you Deborah, as well as PitontheProwl. I will gladly take my infraction. Your comments, as well as Pits comments aren't 'unbecoming,' they are insulting, rude and against the TOS rules that you rely on so heavily. I hope that Pit will receive his infraction as well for the obvious hate speak that he utilized in this thread.

Thank you for wanting to be a planned problem for the rest of those around you and those of us in this hobby that try to open peoples eyes.
That being said, why in your ever loving self centered mind would you take on more animals that you do not plan to be a responsible keeper to?
Yes it is a truthful question.
Did you ever think of how your actions represent the rest of those that are around you and those that may come after you?
Literally nothing said here was tactful. This person is obviously relatively new to the hobby, maybe give a little background into why you feel this way so you don't scare them off to have them go do whatever they want to do anyways.

Yes! That is exactly what I was saying. Blindsiding newbies with insults accomplishes nothing, and further pushes people out of the hobby.

Ask the ones here that know me personally..... It was.
I do find it nice to know that there are so many people here that support hiding reptiles from property owners. There is more than one side to all the stories but everyone always wants to coddle the one at fault. I read the original post correctly with not informing anyone of the animals. I have also had to rehome several animals for people that thiught they were smarter too. I know someone that got evicted after he got rid of his animals. You think I gave them back to him? Nope. He jeopardized them once and got me involved.
I dont know why its so hard for people the think about the consequences of their actions NOT just on themselves but the others around them. Its really not hard for anyone to unwrap themselves from around themself.

We aren't attacking what you say, but how you say it. You are speaking to people on this forum, not random user names. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion, but there is an appropriate way to go about debating. You are a moderator on here, and should be a shining example to all the users on how to effectively use the forum. You speak so heavily about how people's selfish actions affect the community and not just themselves, yet your crass insults alienate people from the hobby, rather than promote it.

You have your PMs Joshua and I have mine.
Im not here for your pleasure, Im here to enforce the TOS.
Plain and simple.
My history speaks for me.
