Hello and Possible Help!
Hi all! I'm new here I've had reptiles before (corn snakes, tree frogs, and leopard gecko when I was a kid), but I just got my first ball python last week. She's a 2yo, regular morph BP named Minnie Pearl.
Here's the story:
She was very calm when I first got her, let me immediately get her from the tank in the pet shop, and just kind of hung out. Got her home, same thing, until she took a bite out of my husband (who isn't overly fond of snakes to begin with, he has a red footed tortoise named Frank). She had been fed 5days before, but we wanted to see if maybe she was hungry again (causing the random bite, she was literally sitting in his arms and then all of a sudden got tagged his thumb). So, I got her a small rat, and she immediately ate it.
She was super active until Saturday night (fed her Friday morning), then she climbed into her log on the hot side of her tank (I keep the tank at ~88-90 on the warm side and ~76-78 on the cool--she'd been avoiding the hot side until this) and has literally not moved since. The only movement has been a single flinch this morning when I got some water on her when I sprayed her tank down (it's dry in Colorado, so I have to mist her tank to try and get the humidity to hit ~55--the damn tortoise is even harder to keep at ~70 lol).
I have a feeling I should be worried, I thought I was keeping her warm enough?
Also, she hasn't gone to the bathroom (at all) or had any water (since Saturday morning).
Any advice/help/reassurance would be greatly appreciated!

i think its fine, she just ate and snakes use heat to digest, she can be just regulating her body to begin the process. I think its a good thing she is doing this imho

can i ask how many grams she is, i ask because a small rat maybe a really big meal for a snake of that age

OK good! It just freaked me out that she went from super active to not moving an inch!

I haven't been able to weigh her (she's a relatively good size already--she was sold to the store, so they couldn't be 100% sure with her age--easily close to 3ft). And probably a rookie mistake, but I went with the size the pet store had been feeding her. It was definitely smaller than she was wide at, and she got it down very quickly.

BP's don't always poop after a meal. they may save it up for way later lol.
also they drink, u just might not be around to see them doing it.

I'm 90% sure she hasn't moved at all (even to drink) since Saturday. I say this because the way she's been curled up hasn't changed, I've monitored her position, and it hasn't moved at all. She did drink Saturday, so possibly she isn't thirsty. i just worry since she's my first.

u can see into her hide? she might be insecure about that and balled up for that reason. page might need a more enclosed hide.
or if the hide is on the hot side/above her hot spot, she just might be comfortable and is just digesting. if u fed her Saturday, today is Monday, only 48 hours later. a lot of folks don't handle their BP and let them digest during this period.

How are you measuring the 88-90?
What are you using as a heat source?
How are you regulating the heat source?
