For the pure black aesthetic, there is a longer workaround. Axanthic genetic stripes (at least the one I've seen) have a truer black to them, but there were some small light patches near the belly. I'd like to see that with a pied - no spinal issues, maybe a more even color distribution. With three recessives, it's certainly an ambitious project, but one that may be worthwhile in the long run.
