    Are using feeding snake bad?

Like the f/t vs live feeder mice/rats debate, I have come across another one on a post that started around 8 1/2 years ago. The debate between feeder snakes. Now I am not talking about the sick people who enjoy to watch another snake eat a snake just to get a "buzz", I am talking about just doing it generally. Now I am nor against nor with feeding snakes to snakes but I am just wondering if something has changed over time in the opinion about this.

unless u got kinked or spare already dead snakes lying around that u don't wanna waste, i would not give "feeder" snakes to cannibalistic snakes (i.e. Kings and Milk Snakes) when they eat rodents just fine.

Edit: i voted no... and i dream of owning a King Cobra.

crap! i meant to vote yes. in other words, yes, IMO it's bad to use feeder snakes when they can take rodents just fine.

Food is food and a snake got to eat.

Usually the people that have a big issue with it how people who have a strong emotional attachment to their pets and can't bare to see an animal that strongly resemble their pet being fed off to another animal.

I am pretty sure some Rat owners get pretty upset at the though of Rats being fed to snakes too.

I don't see a problem with it. Pet mice and rat owners probably don't like what we do. If the species normally eats snakes as part of it's diet, there's no difference between feeding that snake a feeder snake, and me feeding rats to my snakes.

    Circle of life.
It is okay to use pine bedding for snakes.
It is okay to feed live food to snakes.

No, it's not bad. There are plenty of snake-eating snakes out there. Also giving an adult king snake the occasional kinked or stillborn neonate isn't going to cause it to get stuck on a snake-only diet.

I have no issue at all with the idea of using snakes as feeders especially if it's to a species that generally eats other snakes.

I can't figure out whether that would be a yes or no vote, your title and description of the poll are opposites.

Another vote for no it's not bad. Everything has to eat something, and as someone already said, a lot of pet rodent owners don't appreciate what we do a whole lot. While I don't own any snake eating snakes, I do own monitors, and my savs got all my baby balls that didn't make it this year. It was sad to lose them in the first place, but at least I know they went to a good cause in the end.

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?
