Does anyone know how to get rid of Trojan viruses? My virus protection software detects them, but doesn't get rid of them. Tells me I have to do it manually. I checked out their website and all it tells me is what the virus is. Doesn't seem to be too terribly harmful, but I keep getting more of them. The files affected seem to be needed files, like .dll files. I am doing more research to resolve the situation as I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually, but thought some of you might have some suggestions. Also, I'm using a generic virus protection software, which may be part of my problem. Shouldn't the program prevent the virus from getting in or do I need a firewall or something??

It all depends on the type of virus that you have.
There are several tools available to help you though...
go to http://www.mcafee.com and download the free stinger removal tool. That will rid of you of many problems.....
Then hit www.lavasoft.com for adaware to remove the ad ware components.....
Then search for hijack this spyware removal tool. That will take care of browser issues and programs that are in startup and the registry that shouldnt be there. .....
Then last but not least search for Bazooka Spyware Removal Tool. Bazooka will scan and search for other spyware, trojans, and ad ware that was not picked up by the other programs.

Good luck, and be careful before making an registry changes that are shown with hijackthis.
Look, sometimes bad things happen, and there is nothing you can do about it, so why worry?
