For those of you who feed f/t prey, does your snake still constrict, or just slither up to it and start swallowing it?
I just fed my bp again, her 4th f/t meal (woot! woot!). Each time she's constricted it after a nice rat jig, but this time the movement seemed to scare her away. So i just left it on the floor of the box. Sure enough, she goes up to it and sora does this half@ss constricting display- she just grabbed it and held on to it for a second before she then proceeded to swallow it. Very wierd.
So is anyone else's bp as lazy as mine is?

she's not lazy she just knows that it is already dead. my little girl on the other hand hasn't quite figured that out just yet. she still constricts, although not for very long. i think that since she is still a baby she is led more by instinct than by smarts, so her feeding instinct tells her to constrict. i bet she will figure it out though and start constricting less as she gets older (and smarter).

Well thats really good that you have her eating dead prey as a youngin'. I was just wondering because when i used to feed her live (hoppers and small adult mice when she was smaller) she was VERY aggressive in killing them. This carried over when I got her on p/k adult mice. Since she's been eating f/t rats, I've noticed a decrease in her spunk as far as feeding goes.
well I'm glad to hear other peoples' pythons are doing the same.

My BP will still go though the constricting process for the f/t rats I feed her. Good Luck!

I don't bother w/the mouse dance anymore w/Sophie as she isn't impressed by it at all. All I have to do is wave it in front of the hide a couple times and then lay it in her house. She comes out almost immediately and still goes through the motions of 'killing' it before she eats.

yeah, Pandora hasn't figured it out that the mouse is dead. If she does know, then she's just constricting just for fun. i've only fed her twice, and both times she's constricted for like 4 minutes. its cool to watch though.

Andy doesnt even bother anymore .. he just crawls over it once then eats it. Sphinx and Sway are still getting used to the fact that they dont have to expend the energy.

Compadres, it is imperative that we crush the freedom fighters before the start of the rainy season. And remember, a shiny new donkey for whomever brings me the head of Colonel Montoya.
