    Breeding Questions

Hello! I'm thinking about starting to breed this year if anyone is up to size. I just have a few questions.

    1. How early would you breed your female? My dad has a two year old at around 1,250-1,300 grams. What weight should I be aiming for with her? I'm thinking somewhere around 1,400.

    2. When would you start pairing? I read Markus Jayne's breeding pictorial. According to that, it's best to start in November, but I'd love to know if anyone else does something different.

    3. What are some issues I have to be aware of that occur during breeding?

    4. Should I supervise when the two snakes are first introduced? How long? What problems am I looking for?

    5. How long between pairings? I know to leave the male in for three days unless I see a lock before I give him some time off, but how long of a break should the female get?

    Re: Breeding Questions

    1. Females should be over 1500g empty
    2. You can breed all year round.
    3. There are quite a few risk..males can breed themselfs to death and have there hemmipenes not invert.females can become eggbound......
    4. I usually watch for the first 5 or so minutes. Look for signs of aggression..
    5 I shoot for 2 locks a month for a female...

Ok, so as for the risks, what are some possible signs of a problem?

Anyone else? I'd love to hear some other people's thoughts. One of the females is about 1,400 grams empty now. Another meal or two and I think she'll be about ready.
