Thinking of getting my first Ball Python

The problem is the one I kinda fell for is at a Petsmart. Looks pretty healthy, calm and staff says is feeding well.

Should I or shouldn't I - That is the question...

It's your money, but I would rather spend a little more and get one from a breeder that I trust. I would also rather not spend money at Petco or Petsmart because I don't agree with how they take care of their animals. If you're looking for just a plain regular ball python, I think at Petco and PetSmart they cost about $80. If you can find a breeder close by, I'm sure they would sell you one of their regular and normals for almost nothing.

My Fiancee bought my Pewter for me as a birthday gift from Petco and she has been awesome. I think she got kind of hosed on the price $300 but other than that nothing to complain about.

My Ginger came from PetSmart, and that's also where I get her f/t rats from. She's the perfect little snakey (although not so little any more).

Just make sure that you have everything set up before time - including a thermostat!

Re: Thinking of getting my first Ball Python

I got my boa from Pets Unlimited, here in Halifax. They had only had her for a couple of weeks and the salesman seemed to know and care about reptiles. She has been fantastic and is doing great. I was in the store not too long ago and they had a Hog Island that was a mess, trying to shed properly. I told them that I would take care of it but they knew that I wouldn't bring it back - sad to see! Also I was in Petsmart last week and they had a normal ball that looked like a balloon with the air out of it - I almost lost it! I am going to my first show, here, at the end of the month - look out, Mastercard, chequebook, bank account!
