How long does it take for your BP to warm up to you?

My 1 month old BP usually takes about 5 minutes of sitting in my lap before she starts moving around. Today, she only took about 10 seconds then she seemed comfortable as ever!!

Generally speaking, how long does it take for your BP to get comfortable and start adventuring once you start handling them?

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.

A few of them never do and are aggressive, some of them are active the second I get them out, others take a few minutes. They are all different.

My male is instantly on the move the second it take him out of the tub. My female will sit in my lap...well probably forever, she's not big on 'activity'.

Most of them only take a few minutes... but there's a female I've had for a few years that still tries to bite occasionally when her tub is opened, and she stays stiff as a board when in-hand.

Varies with mine. Sometimes she'll just sit there, others, she'll start moving around right away.

For Cake, he is immediately ready to look around and move around. He isn't shy at all.

For Blackout (my previous female BP), it always took her a good ~5 minutes of sitting on my lap before deciding to venture.

And for Yukon, he doesn't ball up or appear typically shy, but refuses to move around until about 3 minutes later as well.

Re: How long does it take for your BP to warm up to you?

Ever since the first time I picked my BP up he has loved being held. Sometimes when he is sleeping I will take his hide off, pick him up and place him in my lap. As soon as I say "hi baby, good morning," he really wakes up and starts searching for my arms to curl up on. I have a habit of going into his room at night while he's exploring and giving him a kiss through the glass. Now he tries to give me kisses all the time. The first time my girlfriend saw him headed toward my face she started freaking out thinking he was gonna eat my face off or something.... Nope, he just gave me a kiss and crawled onto my shoulders haha.

Re: How long does it take for your BP to warm up to you?

I was in the camp that reptiles never really "enjoyed' interaction with us humans but simply adapted to tolerate being handled and held. I don't know so much anymore. Having my snakes in my den that I spend a lot of time in I watch and observe them a lot and have come to think they are a heck of a lot more intelligent than most give them credit for. My grandson had a bearded dragon I truly believe loved to interact with people. He had a very distinct personality I was just amazed with. Walter my BP is starting to show a bit of that as well. He has always been pretty shy and timid, never hissed or struck but sometimes he'll come out of his hide while I'm watching tv or something and just sit in his cage and look at me like he wants me to get him out. I do and he seems to enjoy it.
