    Gotta love no AC

Just saying is all...love this time of year. I can leave the windows open and not run the AC. Best part is, my snakes benefit with a nice boost in humidity and the girls get to cool off a bit at night au natural. Nothing crazy, but all my enclosures from tanks to tubs are sitting around 60% humidity and I don't have to do a thing. The girls that are breeding size get down a few degrees at night and I don't have to do a thing. I hate the way the AC pulls the moisture out of the air and I work hard keeping the humidity above 40% most of the time. Love it!

    Rant over.

Yeah I used to live out there when I was working for the studios. Don't really miss hearing "...but it's a dry heat".

I just noticed you're in NC I lived there for a couple months when I was inbetween places during the summer last year and it was so hot n rainy and HUUUUMIDD!!! Louie lives near a window so he can have the fresh sunlight and night cycles and sometimes I open it up for some fresh air. It's getting to the point here in upstate NY where in a couple months it won't be the AC it'll be the heater!! Gotta "love" snow up to yer nose!! So not looking forward to it haha. Atleast he'll be nice n warm with our house toasty!

Ya we had "no A/C" for two days last week, not by choice, it broke and our house hit 89 degrees inside, even with the windows open and fans blowing. I have to turn off all the lights on my cages and vent the doors, and wire up some small fans to cool everything down, killed my humidity, but at least we all survived. A/C is fixed and the house is nice and cool again.... Gotta love SoCal "seasons" haha.

Dave, I think we've officially hit Monsoon season here in NC. This is crazy all the rain we've had these last 5 days and it looks like it's sticking around for a while too. The sad thing is none of mine are in shed, though that could change quickly, the trouble I'm having is my tubs are too humid. I've got water droplets in all my tubs but I don't want to melt any more holes in them as that will likely make them too dry the rest of the year.
    Cheers, Jeff

All mine shed in the last 2 weeks save for one who is in shed now.

Bummer about your tubs. Can you use fans to increase the air circulation in the room and pull some moisture out?

The proper response to this is "so is your oven". I'm a south Florida guy, so we don't hear that around here. It's a moist heat and the pythons seem to enjoy it.

I don't have tubs I have a glass critter cage. But I have been thinking about tubs lately and was wondering about how many holes there should be. I would want to make plenty and would tape on the outside some of the holes if I needed to add humidity and remove the tape if I needed less. Maybe you could make some more holes and then tape some of them shut ( on the outside of the tub ) if you needed to add more humidity later. Is this a good idea or a bad one?? Maybe someone with a lot of tub experience could put in some input on that idea. Or suggest a similar way to adjust the humidity in plastic tubs. PS Here in Virginia thought I was going to need a boat to get home from work. Some folks were stranded in our area.
