I use aspen for my sand boas as well, I feed frozen thawed and sand does stick to the food quite a bit, I haven't ever had any problems with impaction with sand boas but I'm one of the few people that I know who actually HAS had baby snakes die from ingesting sand (corn snakes) so I tend to shy away from it. Besides, sand is heavy and hard to clean.
