I've also have a very nice blue cheeked one I caught but the other blue cheeked ate it  so I gave up on wild caught

Draco, Albino Checkered Garter
Checkered garter snakes aren't found naturally in Canada, their range is Texas, parts of surrounding states, and parts of Mexico.
Probably what you're finding are eastern garter snakes with checkered patterns.
Not sure what the blue cheeked ones could be, unless blue-striped garters are found in Canada.

Me either only ever found 4 with blue and 2 having just blue cheeks that's why I liked them alot I mostly see ones with reds/oranges and very dark brown
