What do you do with your hatchlings?
I was just wondering what everybody does with their hatchlings when they are ready to move on to a new home. Do you sell them on Kings snake, Craigslist, fauna classifieds, or something else. my son and I are interested in possibly breeding a very small amount and was wondering where you guys end up selling yours.

I've been selling locally, I find selling online to be 5 times as much work. I understand its not an option for most areas or some animals, but been treating me good so far.

we haven't bought our first snake yet. Before my son was born I had 2 Hognose, three corns, and a red tail boa female. The corns and Hognose got sold on Craigslist, and the BOA died unexpectedly. I really wish I would had kept the boas cage because it was a 6-foot vision. we've decided to start with one female, let her gain some size, then pick up a cage, probably a t8, then add a male. I've been slowly picking away at getting supplies. I'm constantly cruising king snake, and it looks like the market is heavily flooded. I seem to see the same sneaks over and over like they're not even selling. I know it's best to breed what you would be happy keeping.

we are planning on selling the babies, except for maybe a holdback or two, then reinvest that money into our projects. or maybe sell all the babies, and use that money towards fresh bloodlines.

I usually make 3-4 local sales and the rest are sold through various websites, including this one.

I forgot about this site.

I sell most of them online, here, Kingsnake, Fauna, Facebook and wholesale normals, het males, ph hets and lower end single gene morph males.

When you say wholesale, do you mean like sell them to the big vendors that advertise looking for snakes on kingsnake? Like LLL and the like.

Can't speak for Deborah but in my experience:
Wholesale generally means you are selling to a company who will turn around and resell them at retail to the public. Your prices must be adjusted accordingly. I don't know about LLL but companies like this may offer you 25% of retail but they will buy all at once.
You are usually going to want to wholesale large groups of snakes to companies like this. Your costs on shipping for a small clutch will probably be more than they'd be willing pay. If you're interested in wholesaling a small group, you're better off going to one or more local pet stores. Again though, even if a small pet store is only willing to buy a single snake, they will want a wholesale price, regardless of quantity, so they can price it fairly for retail.
You may have an individual who offers to buy them all and wholesale prices are in order here as well due to the quantity, regardless of if they are reselling at retail. Most of my supplies are purchased at wholesale rates because the quantity is actually more than most retail pet stores purchase and the vendors could care less that I'm not reselling it... in fact, sometimes it gets me a better price.

I've sold mine at reptile shows (9 this last weekend), locally and online. I've kept it small scale and only this season and actually within the last few weeks, launched a website and posted some videos to youtube.
