Heating

Well I took the cover off and lowered the substrate level to about 1 inch or so. It stayed at 96 or so last night, but when I check when I woke up today it was up at 98. I guess I now need to play with the heat settings. I think it would be better to do that then playing with the substrate level, seeing as the BP could always dig down deeper and it may get too hot.

Oh, and without even misting, my humidity level stays at 70%. Is that too high, or is it acceptable?

70 is acceptable, and really good in my opinion.
My humidity is always at mid-50s until I mist.

you should measure the temp from the cage floor, under the substrate. my bp always pushes all his substrate out of the hides. if it is 98 on top of the substrate it's probably dangerously high underneath.
