    Undergravel filtration for fish

I posted this here because the fish section doesn't appear to be too active. I am wondering how to go about setting up a undergravel filter for my oscar. Clean water lasts like a couple days with this guy! From what I see some say you can use just the air pump, while others say you need a powerhead, and some day both.

Any advice or tutorials you can show me?

Nevermind. Cleaned his tank, and installed a under gravel with air pumps and bought a new internal filter that filters 140 gallons an hour. I am hoping this will solve the issues I was having. Also put in a sucker fish lol

Hey, I didn't respond earlier because I have no experience with UGFs. I think I'd be using a canister filter on an oscar tank since they're so messy.
I'm not sure I would have added a pleco unless you just like them..they poop more than they clean.

Any pics of your tank and fish?

Ill take some pics later. its really basic though no decor.

I just remembered my dad having pleco in the tank religiously when I was a kid and his water was always clean. I couldn't afford a decent canister. The under gravel and internal costed a total of $30. I have read people who keep axolotl use undergravel sometimes because they poop quite a bit. so far the water is sparkling. Next I need a bigger tank. I have my little guy in a 10 gallon. After I pay my credit cards I am going to order a 20 long or something around 30-40. Also I need a rugged stand. Water is heavy
