    Help with a DIY Rack

    Hello all!

Right now I have two snakes in exo-terra lock/display cages. These cages are great (except for humidity, ugh) but I really need to switch over to a rack system to accommodate lack of space and all of the mouths that I have to feed. I'd rather buy a nice rack but they are just so expensive.

If possible I wanted to make a rack to house everyone together, for the longest time possible, but here is the lineup.

    I need to house:

    2 Ball Pythons
    1 Brazilian Rainbow Boa
    1 Redtail Boa
    +more Possible BP's

i realize my Redtail needs a large rack, so I was hoping to have a good sized one (even if it needs to be upped later) as well as good space for everyone else. Is it possible to do this all in one rack? I know most DIY racks have the same size shelves all the way up like standard racks, but I have seen some shelving-like ones that can accommodate myriad sized tubs.

Also, I'm looking for a good tutorial on connecting flexwatt on a rack in order to just have just one plug.

    Thanks in advance!

Best thing to do is google DIY snake racks. You can see different ways to make them and customize your own.
    Snakes
    0.1 Butter
    0.1 Het Clown/Ghost
    1.1 Pastel 100% Het Clown
    1.1 Pied
    1.0 Bee
    1.0 Fire/Spider
    1.0 Normal
    1.0 Pastave
    1.0 Albino Snow Corn
    1.0 Albino Black Pastel

Re: Help with a DIY Rack

If you can afford the space for one decent size cage I would get it for the redtail(you didn't mention his size) and you could save the space with the rack for the other snakes. A 41qt rack should be fine for the rest of them, there are a couple good DIY's for rack on various forum if you google it. As for the flexwatt, if it were me I would keep them wired individually(unless your okay with soldering), I wanted to hook my next rack up to one plug until I had one of the pads go out(granted they are about 8 or 9 years old) but I don't feel like soldering and I can easily replace the single 11in pad. But that is just my 2 cents

I would just hate to have to have so many different heating pads, that would fill up an entire power-strip and I didn't want to do that. Not to mention very expensive to buy them all.

I hear you on the power strips, you might need 2 power strips for a 9 tub rack, but I think it is more versatile depending on how you build it you and replace a 41qt tub and put a couple smaller tubs for hatch-lings and you would just have to change the size of the flexwatt you use. Some places that sell it will separate and put the cords on for you if you want. the extra expense will be for the connectors for each piece of flexwatt.

You are going to have a hard time running the BRB and BP's in the same rack. The BRB needs temps from the low 70's to 85*F, while the BP's need upper 70's to 90*F.

I would get PVC enclosures for the BRB and BCI, and rack up the BP's in 34 and 41 quart tubs.
