Confused about banana ball python pricing

I really want a banana ball python and started looking around at how much they cost today. Some people seem to be selling basic banana morphs for $300 or less while others are selling them for $800. Male or female. I found a few combo morphs like pastel banana and cinnamon banana for $450 while I saw another breeder selling a spider banana ball for $875... never have I seen such different prices in the same morph. Why is there such a difference and how much am I truly going to have to spend on a banana ball python within Canada?

WEll most morphs have 2 general prices, price for males and price for females. Banana males have an anomaly which they produce very skewed ratios of male bananas or female bananas. We call them male makers and female makers. So bananas have 3 general prices, male maker males, female maker males, and females.

Re: Confused about banana ball python pricing

OWAL answered the first part about why there can be such a difference in price. Don't forget that size plays a part in the equation too.

As far as what you have to spend, that's entirely up to you and the quality of animal you are looking for. You don't have to spend anything if you don't want to.

Also, each seller sets a price according to what they want for that snake. They may feel their animal is better than the norm, i.e. it's eating FT rats, it's brighter in color, it's from a good proven line, it's eaten several times, etc. Or they just really like their animal.

When you get into the combos, it's even more complex. With banana, you also have the male maker or female makers... and coloration.

The key is to find both a seller with a good honest reputation, a animal that meets your personal preferences, and a price you feel is fair. This might mean a lot of shopping about to find all those qualities in one spot.
