1year old Suriname BCC feeding question
I just got a baby Suriname. I feed her one hopper mouse every 10 days. Since their digestive system is slower than BCIs is this enough food for her?

Hmm, never come across that before in my reading, not have I heard of that before. Maybe I missed it. But I just don't see why Surinames would have slower digestive systems than other Boas unless they were being power/over fed. That would make it anecdotal misinformation then.
Regardless, I would tighten it up for a growing baby and go every 5-7 days if she is hungry. As long as she is not losing her girlish figure or regurgitating she will be fine.

The one thing I found that you can count on about Balls is that they are consistent about their inconsistentcy.
1.2 Coastal Carpet Pythons
Mack The Knife, 2013
Lizzy, 2010
Etta, 2013
1.1 Jungle Carpet Pythons
Esmarelda , 2014
Sundance, 2012
2.0 Common BI Boas, Punch, 2005; Butch, age?
0.1 Normal Ball Python, Elvira, 2001
0.1 Olive (Aussie) Python, Olivia, 2017
Please excuse the spelling in my posts. Auto-Correct is my worst enema.

I would also feed weekly at this age, probably a pinky rat. You just don't want to feed a too large meal, they can handle a normal schedule with appropriate size.

I don't think their systems are slower per se, just that they're more prone to regurgitation syndrome and harder to bring back from it than BCI's, so more care should be taken in selecting a feeder size - when in doubt, smaller and/or less often is better.
A feeder that leaves no lump or minimal lump every 7-10 days should be fine.

If you feed a bcc a meal every 5 to 7 days you WILL kill it. Talk to reputable BCC breeders. I purchased a yearling female suriname bcc from Star Shaffer, and I continued her feeding schedule of one rat pink every 14 days. Even brand new babies are on a 10 to 14 day schedule.
You shouldn't feed a bci that often either, but that is a whole different story
To the OP:
If you are sincere about wanting to learn CORRECT information on this subspecies, I can put you in touch with some people who will be able to help. Just shoot me a PM and I will point you in the right direction.

Re: 1year old Suriname BCC feeding question
Thank you everybody for your helpful information. The breeder said that 1 hopper mouse every 10 days should be good for the next 10 - 15 feedings. After about 7 days, she is looking for food and seems hungry. I just wanted some feedback from other Suriname owners. The breeder did warn me about over - feeding and the likelihood of regurgitation and death so I will stick to the same schedule that he recommended. She is a sweetheart and am looking forward to watching her mature.
