    Exclamation Ball Python RI

    Hi guys,

This is my first post and I could really do with some help!

I recently discovered my new ball python has got RI, so I made an appointment with the vets. Anyway they really seemed like they had no idea about snakes what so ever. In the end they gave me 5 syringes and some baytrill, which is to be administered once every 2 days.

After the course of antibiotics there wasn't to much of a change, after going back today they gave me more baytrill but have prescribed more this time. The vet really did seem scared of snakes and clueless to say the least!

I think he is just starting to go into shed atm, so I was wondering if it is okay to handle him to give him the meds ? I feel bad as it is forcing him to have them

He's just over a year old, ive had him for over a month now.

His temp is at 32 degrees Celsius
And humidity is at about 70% 75%

This is my first snake that I've kept and it is still continuing and im really worried, I really don't know what to do! Please can you guys offer some help of if you've had experience with this before if you need any more info just let me know.

    Thanks in advance guys.

You need a different vet, especially if he is scared of snakes and is just throwing antibiotics at an RI without doing a culture & sensitivity.

Post your city/state and maybe someone here will know of a decent exotic specialist. You may have to drive a bit, the closest one to me is an hour drive away.

She didn't even diagnose him with anything just gave antibiotics to me. Felt like they just wanted my money!

I went to my reptile shop and they said that vet is s**t the nearest one is about an hour but I assume it will be worth it.

Make sure that vet knows what abx and dosages were already administered.
