    Help desiding a morph !

Hello, i want to start a small breeding project (12-15 BPs) with my kid and we decide will use 8 diferent morphs (co dominants / dominants),
    our choice is:

    Pastel
    Spider
    Pinstripe
    Lesser
    Calico
    Fire
    Coral Glow

so far we have 7 morphs on sight, but we are looking for another, at fisrt we tought about butter, but then we read butter and lesser is about the same, then mojave .... but mojave x lesser give BEL, then desert, but we read about the female infertility problem, then champagne, but champagne x spider its lethal ....

so what morph do you recomend?
was thinking about GHI, but not conviced at all !

That sounds like a great project. I am amazed how my kids took to our breeding projects. My daughter who hated genetics in high school, now comes to me with projects based on the genes we have. And my kids tend toward the 5-6 gene combos.

When I first started people on this forum and people in person told me breed what you like. I never understood that, but I think I'm beginging to get what they meant. Don't breed albinos if you don't like them. Because if they don't sell you're not going to like opening that tub feeding, cleaning, etc a snake you don't like the look of.

This isnt going to be a long post on "breed what you like" but just stating that, so you'll take our suggestions with a grain of salt. Run them through your "like" filter.

Based on the genes you have, and if you're only adding one, I would suggest enchi.

Yep, we may get a resesive in a future we like axantich.
My daughter love our mice rack, she love breeding mices, hahaha.

Enchi is not similar to pastel? Like woma and spider ?

We like bamboo but its way to expensive, we dont like bp that look like normal, aka balde, black pastel, cinnamon, espwcial, etc, etc

Enchi is a pattern mutation, a color mutation, and an enhancer gene all in one. It goes well with pastel, spider, fire, calico, and coral glow.

On the other hand, pastel is a pattern and color mutation but dirtys the overall animal (darker with age and more dots, specs). Enchi will brighten the overall animal. Enchi cleans the pattern (reduces dots).

My avatar is an Enchi Super Pastel Spider on the day of birth. Only thing that could make those three genes better might be Super Enchi.

Why couldn't I have had you as my parent? Lol

I agree with enchi. .. but then again I love enchi.

What I did/do when considering a morph I go to the morph list on wobp and look up that morph. It will give you a whole list of combos with that morph, and photos!
I look to see how it will look with what I already have and other things that I might want. If I'm deciding between a few morphs, I pick the one that has the most combos I like. Hope that makes sense. Good luck.

Adding recessives adds suspense and satisfaction for a longer term program. Since this is a request for opinions, I would lose the Calico and add Enchi. Add pied with the understanding that breeding recessives means keeping more hatchlings as hold backs. Of course, if you have a good amount of money to start this, you can reduce the time needed by buying two visual recessives such as two pieds and breeding those together, then breeding dominant BPs to the pied hatchlings.

To reduce the waiting game even further is if you could also buy some nice dominant BPs who are also het pied. Again, this will require more money and buying from a source you trust. Personally, I think its a good idea to buy at least a couple dominant morphs who are het for whatever recessive morph you most like.

Bananas and Coral Glows are the same and remember there is a funky genetic trait about male-makers and female-makers.

Enchi is awesome! You may also want to consider Orange Dream and or Leopard. Better yet just get a snake with all 3 genes. I know its been said already but go with what you like, its easier said than done with all the options out there. Thats what makes this hobby so much fun, endless possibilities good luck.

With my little experience if i had to pick 8 morphs for a little breeding project without recessive genes and at a reasonable price i would go:

    orange dream
    fire or vanilla or lucifer
    enchi
    spider or woma
    yellowbelly or specter
    lesser or butter
    leopard
    calico or sugar

With that morph list i will go for 2 males: Enchi Orange dream fire and leopard enchi lesser would be top picks.

i would not pick pastel, not pick pinstripe. and absolutely avoid champagne and banana/CG. i won t pick ghi as well.

    other morph you could consider:

    hidden gene woma
mojave/ specially if you like GHI)
pastel (like state above become dirty and dark with age and waste few clean combos.)
mystic /phantom specially if you really like pinstripe.

another list considering banana and ghi:

    banana
    ghi
    mojave
    lesser or butter
    mystic or phantom
    pinstripe
    enchi
black pastel or cinnamon or het. red Ax
1.0 superstripe, killerbee, OD spider fire, black pastel YB, black specter, pastel dinker, spider dinker, banana, banana cinnamon, enchi fire OD, fire dream bee het. russo, pastel superstripe, 2.0 firefly dream YB.

0.2 superpastel yb, 0.2 enchi, 0.1 yellowbelly 0.2 cinnamon, 0.2 normal, 0.1 black widow, black pewter, fire, lemon pastel, pastel, black pastel, bumblebee, spider granite, het. russo, super pastel, pastel specter, specter, lesser pin, OD, fire OD, OD fire het. russo, OD pastel, firefly dream YB, fire bee het. russo, lemon pastel enchi, citrus super enchi, super pastel enchi, pastel ivory, bumblebee dinker
