Finally picked a male to match to our albino spider
Well we pulled the trigger and picked up a male albino black pastel pin stripe to breed to our albino spider female. He is about 500 grams and according to the breeder was on frozen mice. We have had him for about 5 days and he has not eaten yet (offered fresh killed). He has however struck at the mice repeatedly and anything that passes by his face. I have never seen such an angry bp before. He will let you pick him up but he is extremely head shy and will not hesitate to bite if you wave your finger in front of him.
We are excited to see what the babies will look like however we are slightly disappointed in the attitude as he is supposed to be a pet for my daughter as well as a breeder. We are crossing our fingers that his attitude will improve with handling and time getting used to his new environment.

Nice animal to add to the breeding pool. Hopefully he mellows out a bit. May just need a little time to settle in before he starts feeding. Is he on the same substrate that the breeder had him on? I sold a nice feeding OD het pied female that didn't feed for the new owner until she was put back on sani chips. Once he put her on sani chips, she ate twice that week. Good luck.

Interesting, I never considered the substrate to be a factor. I will contact him and find out. I currently have him on a nice thick bed of aspen (to help with humidity) in a 36x 24 x 12 cage. He has a nice hiding spot, big water dish and warm/cool places to go. If I were to guess, he probbably spent most of his life in a Tupperware type cage on newspaper.

My Lesser had a huge issue with this. He was kept on paper towels and I switched him to aspen. He hung out on top of the cave for a while instead of touching the aspen and didn't eat for 2 weeks until he got used to it. I would let him sit for a week before trying to feed.

Was he formerly kept in a rack system? That large tank might be stressing him out big time. I personally keep snakes of that size in either 15qt sterilite tubs, or V35s. A 30-40 gallon tank is a very large space for that little guy. Do you have lots of clutter in his space? How about a picture if you can? Would love to see a pic of him as well!

What a little power house you got. Share some pictures! I love albino combos!

I will work on getting a photo of his set up in my gallery. I can't post pictures in the thread for some reason. His cage only has 2 things in it. A nice pyramid that is hollow that he can hide in and a water dish big enough to soak in. He is out cruising around day and night.
I have a pic of him and the pic of my female in my gallery but they are not great pics. I will work on getting some with proper lighting and backgrounds. The female is a low contrast snake, almost looks like a bananna with no visible pattern. The male is exactly the opposite (I believe the black pastel has something to do with that). We are hoping to get some high contrast black bees, spinners and spiders out of the pairing.

There is his enclosure and if he is not cruising around it, that's where he sits.
