Yeah im waiting on the moss and his new hide to come in. Which theyrw going on the basking side. Is it necessary to have the back and sides papered off?

Maybe but maybe not. Depends on the snake. Some need more security than others.

Wrapping the sides and back with thick paper or foam will also keep heat and raise your temps which is desired in some cases.

I still have two glass tanks and I find them much more visually pleasing than the ugly pvc cages I also have. In both of my hides in the glass tanks I keep moss. Doing this with the screen covered gives me great sheds. The overall humidity still reads low but it is much higher in the hides, which is where is counts since your snake will be in them most of the time.
