I like this place, because it focuses more on the care and keeping of Bps, and it's not just a bragging spot for morph breeders. I admire the various Bp morphs, true. But on a number of other Bp-related forums, there's nothing much more than people posting pics of their morphs and "oohing and aahing" over them. Then someone asks a real question, or posts pics of their "just normal" Bp, and their post gets ignored mainly. I am so glad that kinda stuff does not happen here.
Now, I am not knocking the breeding of morphs, nor the breeders' right to be proud of them. They are very beautiful animals for the most part, and I kno that it can take years and thousands of dollars to be a successful morph breeder. I am just glad I have found a forum like this, where no post really goes ignored ever, even if it's "just" about a normal Bp. For we truly know, NO Bp is normal!

I totally agree 100%.
This is a great site w/ people who will go out of there way to answer and help you no matter how big or small or crazy the post.
This site is a real class act and all who are part of it should be proud of the enviroment that has been created here.

Queen of Common Sense
That is so great to hear. That's exactly what we're trying to achieve here. Gin, I agree, morphs are beautiful creatures worthy of admiration, but let's face it, most of us can't afford them. I think "normal" BPs are just as beautiful as morphs. Just because they're more common doesn't mean they're less attractive, and you're right, while their colors might be normal, their patterns are so different from one to another that they are diverse and interesting in their own right.
Our goal here is to make everyone feel welcome and to contribute to the proper care and keeping of BPs and other herps. I'm happy to hear that you think we're on the right track.
Thanks!

I definitely like that sense of community and friendliness here as well. I will say one thing though, I have noticed a lot of redundant questions recently. Like, with some questions people ask, you wonder if they've ever even read a caresheet, because most of the basic questions can be answered there. Those types of questions definitely keep the forum moving and all, but I find myself typing the same replies to questions in different threads 3 and 4 times a week.
Maybe the mods should post a link to a caresheet for each animal's respective forum, or even a thread that totally covers each of the topics like feeding, housing, temps, etc. It might help get rid of a little redundancy.

We've already taken steps to avoid that sort of thing, Brad, like the FAQ forum, for example. We're also considering sending a welcome message to new members that would read something like this:
"Welcome to the site! [etc., etc.] Before you post a question, please look around the site a little. Read our care sheets and FAQs. Try using the "search" tool as well if you're looking for specific information. If you still don't find what you're looking for, ask away! We're ready and willing to help."
How does that sound?

Smynx, they can't see the FAQ forum yet, and didn't know it was there. But yes, Brad, we've noticed the same thing and are taking steps to reduce the volume of repetitive posts and make it even easier for people to find information.
And I fully agree that the community here is hands-down the best herp-related place on the net. : Y'all rock!

Without this forum, I don't know what I'd do to get through another day of work in this cube...I have a full-time summer job,and am a full time student during the rest of the year.
I can't wait for classes to start again, and I can go back to leeching off of my parents (ahh, college life!)....but I promise I'll still be on here a lot!
