    First Rack: Pics and Questions

So, Ben Siegel's has become The Jungle and they were offering a small snake rack for $50. Here's the pic

It holds 15qt and 32qt tubs. It needs TLC, but I think it's going to be perfect for me. It doesn't come with heat, so I was hoping for advice on that. Also, what size snakes can go in the aforementioned tub sizes?
    2.1 Ball Python(Sterling, Boots, & Eden)
    1.0 Kenyan Sand Boa(Anakin)
    0.1 Bearded Dragon(Beatrix/Trixie)
    0.1 Kitty Cat(Willow)
    1.0 Chihuahua(Panda-Bear)
    2.0 Betta Fish(Finnley & Pescado)
    0.2 Rats(Mishka & Laney)

For me a 15qt will hold a bp up to around 800grams. A 32qt will hold until around 2000g, though technically except for the largest females a 32 qt will do for adults. Personally it comes down to the snake. Some will prefer the smaller size tubs while others are just as comfortable in larger ones. My guys tend to eat better when they are snug vs in bigger tubs.

Edit* you can order heat tape to your specific instructions from several places online. Try something like reptile basics.

If that is a closed rack, then you would need to buy enough for the width of each level, so that each spot has heat.

    Id recommend 4" tape.

Also if its closed, then you make need to drill small holes on one end of each level, so that you can run the wiring put the back.

Thanks! I shouldn't have to worry about escapes?

Awesome. My girls are almost 800g and so a 32 should do nicely for quite a while. Do I need a hide in there?

Depends on the snake. I have a couple that are fine without a hide, most would rather have a hide

Re: First Rack: Pics and Questions

I'm a little worried, now. This was apparently a rat rack which was not specified during sale. I was told by a friend it may not be suitable for snakes. How can I ensure escape prevention?

If you wanna step inside, pay admission at the door...

No way that is a rat rack. They need much more ventilation than that.

Totally not a rat rack, that screams out snake rack. Lol Your snakes won't get out of that.
Crawling back into the reptile scene once more!
