This stuff sounds almost too good to be true. It claims to reduce Coccidia numbers, without the use of any Rx drugs. Anyone had any experience with this product?

We had a thread about that before, but nothing ever came of it. Apparently no one had tried it. It would be great if Rusty, Becky, or Kara could use their connections to find out about efficacy and safety of this product.

I was wondering if I should use it or not for my beardie. I can't figure out why this guy won't put on weight. He eats as many crickets and superworms as I'll give him, in addition to 2 small bowls of greens a day. He passes a stool each morning, and is the normal intact brown piece accompanied with a pure white ball of urate; and it doesn't smell bad at all, if I even notice a smell at all. So its like all signs point to health, its just that he's so thin.

A vet check wouldn't hurt. It may be that he's growing lengthwise fast enough to make up for what he's taking in. I've seen that happen with other animals, including snakes and humans. You might also try giving him some more food if he's happily eating all of what you give him.

Coccidia would cause some bloody, smelly diarrhea. I would just go get a fecal done, and if he does have coccidia, just ask for some Albon, that does the trick. For tapes, they will give ya Droncit or some other ones I don't remember. I wouldn't try that ParaZap junk, who knows what's in it, besides, if it's too good to be true, it isn't. Wormers aren't prescription drugs. You can find out what he has, if anything, and go to a feed store or get a Fosters & Smith catalog and order it out of there. Just found out from the vet how much to give him each day and for how long. With worming, you don't have to be exact like you do with other drugs, it's not going to hurt 'em. As Marla said, he just might not be getting enough usable energy, carbs or protein. Any other questions just ask. I think I might have been rambling

Hi,
I'm in the process of using Parazap now. I'll let you know how it works.
The product isn't liked by the animals but any "medicine" like substance is usually rejected anyways.
I've tried different methods of administering the medication with mixed results.
Parazap comes in powered form.
I've dusted crickets which are rejected by:
Ridge-tail monitors, leopard geckos, baby blue tongues
Accepted by:
Bearded dragons
I've made it into a "tea" as the directions suggest which isn't really accepted by anything but a few desperately thirty kingsnakes or a ball python.
I'm continuing the process and will write back.
Since I have so many animals in varying degrees of size, I'll see if it makes any difference in my animals.
I've bred bearded dragons for a while but was hit with the coccidia virus. I've seen a lot of collections of dragons come and go due to some ailment. If parazap can keep collections of dragons healthy for the life of the dragons, I'll be a dedicated user but only time will tell.

There are some fruit or meat flavored liquids that your vet can recommend that you can mix any medicine in. Alot of wormers though can taste of banana or apple if you look in the right place. Horse wormers are known for tasting pretty good. Usually not too bad. Try www.1800petmeds.com or www.petcarerx.com I'm going to start getting our dogs shots there since it is SO much cheaper, and I can give them myself. We've already gotten the dogs Heartguard there and it saved us alot of money compared to going to the vet. As for the ParaZap, I would be concerned for the long-term effects on the animals. I just won't try anything that is marketed only on the internet. Just my opinion.
