    is this normal? deffication question

I wish I could post a picture to show what I'm talking about but I cannot figure out how to do it on here so I will try to explain the best I can. I have only had my bp for 2 months and everything had been going well, he has been eating like a champ but does not defficate often, recently he went approximately 4 meals without defficating and tonight he let loose, I was rather concerned when I saw the mess. He is almost a year old, 350 grams and approx 2 feet in length, the actual poop was about 6-7 inches in length! Also, I have paper towel substrate and the urine soaked an entire sheet approx 12"×12".. I am wondering if this is normal or is this a clear sign that he was constipated? If so how would one go about addressing/treating constipation?

    Thanks for the help!

Since I haven't owned any BPs yet, I can't help with your question, but I can tell you how to post photos.

To upload a photo, first you have to put it up online somewhere. Once you do that, you can right click and say "copy image URL". You'll use that URL here and type out something like this:

    [ img ] paste your URL here [ /img ]

but without any spaces at all. Let me know if you're unsure about how to upload the photo(s) and retrieve the URL.

A few of my snakes save that surprise for me until after they shed. just remember, the bigger the snake, the bigger the poop. I'll let you imagine the size of what my 2700g female leaves me

Your bp is probably not constipated. As stated above ball pythons usually hold it in and let loose after a few meals or after they shed. Most likely not a thing to worry about. Good luck!

Much like cristacake I don't own a snake either. However, my understanding is that a fairly reliable sign of constipation is "sausage butt", which is pretty much what it sounds like. When that happens, there will be a pretty dramatic swell in the back end stopping just below the tail, so the poor thing looks like a sausage.

Absolutely normal! My pythons do it all the time, especially my big girls. Haha.

Thanks for all the replies! It just literally startled me looking into what is usually a nice clean cage and see it soaked with a giant poo sitting there! Just glad to know that's normal! Also just a cool side note this was after he ate his first rat switching over from mice! such a great eater
