Caren, the Zoo Med stuff smells suspiciously like rubbing alcohol. I spray it on, let it sit a few minutes, then wipe it dry with a paper towel and let it air out a little. I usually don't notice a smell after that. Is the smell you're referring to bleach smell or reptile smell?
